Phases of Matter Lab Activity - Effect of Pressure on State of Matter

Students will manipulate cornstarch and water and work to determine if it is a solid or a liquid based on what they know of the phases of matter.
"Oobleck" (a common name for this substance) falls somewhere between solid and liquid.
This phases of matter lab is so fun and engaging, your students will talk about it forever. It is how I teach my students about the effect of pressure on state of matter. It is a great segue piece to get into the compressibility of gases as well!
