In this introduction to the Bunsen burner lab activity, students learn every part of the Bunsen burner and learn to be more comfortable with it when they finally light the Bunsen burner and investigate how the flame changes with burner adjustments.
With this, they are more confident in lighting the Bunsen burner, but equally informed so that they aren't too confident to the point that they are flippant with the Bunsen burner.
